Making homemade pop-tarts allows you to use healthier ingredients AND it’s a fun project for the kids to help with. And it’s fairly simple to do, I promise! Let the kids pick out a fun cookie cutter shape and let the baking begin!
INGREDIENTS
• Homemade pie crust or store bought – I like Immaculate Baking Pie Crust
• Organic fruit conserve – I used blackberry – look for all natural, minimal ingredients
• Powdered Sugar – 8 0z
• Milk – start with 3 tablespoons & add additional tablespoons until icing becomes spreadable
• food coloring (optional)
• Sprinkles (optional)
DIRECTIONS
1. Roll our pie crust according to directions.
2. Use cookie cutter to cut shapes
3. Spread conserve over cut outs
4. Top with another pie crust shape
5. Bake at 350 for approx 8-10 min
6. Remove from cookie sheet & let cool
7. Using a pastry bag and knife, pipe icing onto pop tart shapes OR just let kids spread icing
8. Sprinkle with sprinkles
9. After icing dries, individually bag for a quick grab & go snack
