Ahoy!  It is time for some Friday Fun!  Whether you are looking to host a birthday party or just need an activity for your kids, this Pirate and Princess theme is great for birthdays or playdates!

I picked up bandanas, themed ribbon and toile from the local craft store.  Using extra large bands, I tied the toile and ribbon around the bands to make tutu’s for the girls and then everyone got bandanas to wear.  I rented 2 bounce houses and had Pin the Crown on the Princess (a knock off of pin the tail on the donkey) and had a treasure hunt.

Since we hosted this party on a Friday, I served pizza and in keeping with the theme, had packets of Pirate Booty, goldfish and mini packages of sliced apples for snacks.  Chocolate pirate coins and jelly beans were more for decoration but a fun treat to eat too!  I had buckets of mini bottles of water for the kids to easily grab and since the bottles were mini, I wasn’t worried about lots of wasted water and it was more germ free than cups.  And because parents deserve a treat too, I served wine with a few easy appetizers.  Homemade cupcakes rounded out the birthday celebration but even for a playdate, who doesn’t love a cupcake or oversized cookie?!

I try to avoid candy as party loot so for the girls I did hair bows, glow in the dark wands and pirate chocolate coins.  For the boys, I did glow in the dark pirate swords, Scooby Doo Graham Cracker Bones, pirate chocolate coins and an organic lollipop.

It was a pretty fun adventure!!  Tag #cookingfitchic with your party – we love to see our fellow mates celebrate!
