Hot Cocoa Bomb

These Hot Cocoa Bombs are so fun to make! And they are super easy for kids to help with too!! Filled with your favorite hot cocoa or Chocolate Superfoods they are perfect for Valentine’s Day or any day the week!

I purchased a silicone mold on Amazon. There are tons to choose from!

INGREDIENTS

Chocolate Chips – I used Ghirardelli milk chocolate but you can use a higher quality cacao for a slightly healthier option

Hot Cocoa power or chocolate Shakeology

Optional – mini marshmallows, crushed peppermints ( I filled mine all different and then it was fun for the kids to choose one and let them be surprised to see what was inside )

White Chocolate and sprinkles for decorating

DIRECTIONS

Melt approximately 8 oz chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl … I did increments of 30 seconds, stirring each time. Do NOT over microwave the chips. The chips should be almost melted and you can stir to a smooth consistency. There is a way to “temper” the chocolate and make sure your bombs come out glossy. and really pretty, but I was doing this with my kids and wanted it to be fun not stressful so we just melted the chocolate.

Using a spoon. generously coat the molds with melted chocolate, making sure to not be skimpy around the edges.

Place in fridge for about 5 min or until hardened

Remove chocolate from molds. On LOW heat, heat a saucepan … take one half of bomb and gently place half cycle side down on hot pan to slightly melt edges. Remove and fill with your filling options. Gently take another half circle of chocolate and slightly melt ring on pan and then top filled circle. It is actually really easy to do so do not this step scare you.

Repeat until all chocolate bombs are assembled.

Heat white chocolate chips in the microwave – again, I did 30 second increments. White chocolate is way more sensitive than milk chocolate so be extra careful not to burn them. Once melted, you can use a spoon to drizzle the white chocolate over the bombs or spoon melted chocolate into a disposable pastry bag, snip the end and drizzle over the bombs. Top with sprinkles.
